A tradition family welcome at the Children’s Hotel Felben

Your hosts at one of the best children’s hotels in Austria

For almost 200 years now the children’s hotel and the farm that it originated from has belonged to Scharler Family. Over the years the hotel has developed and grown to become one of Austria’s most popular children’s hotels. Traditional Austrian hospitality is what we know best.

In the year 1824 Balthasar Scharler purchased the Felbermeilingerhof farming estate in Mittersill and since then it has been handed down from generation to generation.

In 2010 Christoph and Petra Scharler took over the running of the hotel but the whole family is still involved in day-to-day life at the hotel: You may well bump into Grandpa Toni in the stables, daughter Franziska in the riding paddock and play rooms and son Sebastian on the football pitch or BMX track. In our restaurant guests are taken care of brother-in-law Rangi along with a number of long-serving staff who have long since become the extended arm of the family.

Children’s Hotel Felben - One of the best Children’s Hotels in Austria

The story of how Felbermeilingerhof estate became a hotel began with the arrival of its first guests from Vienna in 1958. Three years earlier, the local council had persuaded the Scharlers to open a guesthouse which guests frequented gladly. In 1989 the family began to renovate and improve the property and what was then a 2-star guesthouse with a restaurant was turned into an attractive and modern 4-star hotel.

Since 1992 the 4-star Hotel Felben has been a designated children’s hotel and year for year the facilities and services have been improved and increased. Today the hotel carries 5 Smileys, the highest possible accolade awarded to children’s hotels in Europe. Fun and action combined with ultimate holiday comfort has proved to be an unbeatable recipe.
