CANCELLATION FEES FOR HOLIDAYS
  • Up to 3 months prior to arrival reservations may be canceled for free of charge
  • 3 months to 1 month prior to arrival a fee of 40% of the arranged package price will be charged
  • 1 month to 1 week prior to arrival a fee of 70% of the arranged package price will be charged
  • In the last week prior to the agreed arrival date, in the case of no-show or early departure, a fee of 90% of the arranged package price will be charged.
  • Should we manage to rent the room or apartment subsequent to your cancellation, fees for these days will not be charged.

In order to minimize your costs in the event of cancellation, we recommend you taking out travel insurance with our partner “Europäische Reisestornoversicherung” (European Travel cancellation insurance). Please find details of the cancellation insurance and its benefits below.  This insurance can be booked when you make your reservation.

 

The following causes of travel cancellation or interruption on the part of the guest are covered by this insurance(Covid-related):

  • Infection with Covid-19 of the guest
  • Infection with Covid-19 of a close relative or another person living in the same household and an urgent requirement for the guest to be present at home.
  • Fever and other symptoms associated with Covid, even if the test result turns out to be negative
  • A positive test result without symptoms
  • A close relative living in the same household has fallen ill and the guest has to self-isolate

 

The insurance does not cover due to:

  • The guest deciding not to travel for fear of infection because he/she is classified as high risk person
  • An official precautionary quarantine mandate after returning to the home country
  • Unemployment due to layoffs triggered by the pandemic
  • Borders being shut down, officially mandated hotel closings, lockdown mandated by the government (à nullification of the accommodation contract = no cancellation costs may be charged on behalf of the provider)
SERVICES OF “HOTELSTORNO PLUS” (HOTELCANCELLATION PLUS)

1. Cancellation Protection

  • Full refunding of cancellation fees up to the agreed holiday price in the case of cancellation or interruption (no excess/retention)
  • Should the insurance be taken out later than 3 days after making the original booking, only events that occur from the 10th day after the insurance is concluded are insured (with the exception of accidents, deaths or natural forces).

2. Interruption of the holiday

  • Compensation for the booked, unused holiday services up to the agreed holiday price

3. Delayed start of the booked stay

  • Refunding for the additional accommodation and food costs during the journey up to a maximum of €400,-

4. Involuntary extension of stay including helicopter rescue

  • Refunding for additional accommodation and food costs at the holiday location up to a maximum of €2,000,-

5. Search and rescue expenses

  • Search and rescue costs in the event of an accident, mountain or sea distress up to a maximum of €7,500,-

6. COVID-19 insurance coverage

24-hour emergency hotline and assistance is also included

The insurance coverage is valid for a stay of up to 31 days in Europe.

The insured sums listed in the specification of services may limit the insurer’s benefits for all insured events. If you conclude the “Hotelstorno Plus” insurance for several people travelling together, the sums insured apply to the each person in the group.

Should you take out the “Hotelstorno Plus” insurance for several people travelling together, please make sure you select the premium for the total package price (including any additional services and travel costs booked) for the entire group. Please note that the maximum sum insured for holiday cancellation per booking / insured event is € 12.000,-.

INSURED REASONS FOR CANCELLATION AND INTERRUPTION OF THE TRIP

What is insured?

  • The insurance covers no-show or the interruption of the trip.

Possible reasons covered by the insurance include:

  • Unexpected serious illness
  • Covid Infection despite pandemic status (more information)
  • Serious physical injury caused by an accident
  • Death
  • Pregnancy and pregnancy complications
  • Significant property damage to one of your residences as a result of a natural event, fire, burst water pipe or criminal act
  • In the event of a no-show, we will refund the cancellation costs according to the travel contract up to the insured holiday price.
  • In the event of a necessary interruption of the trip, we will reimburse the unused travel services up to the insured trip price.
  • Search and rescue expenses
  • Search and rescue costs in the event of an accident, mountain or sea distress up to a maximum of €7,500,-
LIMITATIONS OF INSURANCE COVERAGE

The following grounds for the cancellation or interruption of the trip are excluded:

  • Cases of intent or serious misconduct by the insured person
  • Strike
  • Significant impairment due to alcohol, narcotic drugs or medication
  • When the grounds for cancellation or interruption of the holiday already existed or were foreseeable when the insurance was taken out
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO IN CASE OF A CLAIM?

Cancellation
Immediately inform your host (hotel, guesthouse, ...) and send confirmation of your reason for cancellation to your host and the insurance company. If you cancel for health reasons we also require a detailed medical certificate from your attending physician to be submitted simultaneously.

Premature termination
Should you terminate your holiday prematurely due to illness or accident we will require an appropriate medical certificate issued by the attending physician at your holiday location!

Delayed begin of the booked stay and unscheduled termination
Please submit the receipts for the costs you incurred for board and lodging together with confirmation of the reason (doctor's certificate, official confirmation of road closure or accident or break-down, etc.) to EUROPÄISCHE.

Search and rescue costs
In case of a claim please inform the EUROPÄISCHE immediately by telephone or fax stating the details of the event. The EUROPÄISCHE will settle the costs directly with the search and rescue company on site.

CONTRACTUAL BASIS

The EUROPÄISCHE terms and conditions of insurance policies of the hotel industry (ERV-RVB Hotellerie 2007) form the contractual basis of this agreement. You can request a copy from www.europaeische.at or from the EUROPÄISCHE insurance company.

Each insurance sum represents the maximum amount payable by the insurer. The insurance contract is subject to Austrian law. By paying the insurance premium the insured person declares agreement with the expressed provisions and insurance terms and conditions.
